Review

IMPORTANT: I was able to buy this book here on January 31st, 2021 even though it has not been available since early December. I had signed up to receive a notification when the product is available but I never received one. I checked the product page periodically and on 01-31-21 I saw that copies had been made available. Without hesitation I purchased a copy and at that time there were 15 copies still available. Less than 10 minutes later, all of the available copies were sold. The moral of the story is, keep checking the product page.-I'm very happy that recently several books, in English, have been published highlighting what is often the unsung hero of animation, background artwork. The author puts his focus on the near future, often dystopian, metropolis backgrounds, which I personally find to be more beautiful than those produced by Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli (I know, it's sacrilegious to say however, I do still love Miyazaki's works). This book is a must have for any fan of Anime and animation in general. Beautifully put together and beautifully researched. I'm very, very happy to have this in my collection.
