Desciption
These are dark times indeed, when even the noblest of undertakings must rely on stealth, deception, and possibly the betrayal and abandonment of friends and loved ones. Jedi Dass Jennir and his companion Bomo Greenbark survived the Clone Wars, but the fate of Bomo's wife and daughter remains a mystery. The two friends are determined to find them, but their path leads them from danger to darkness - where each of them stands to lose more than they may hope to gain. Meanwhile, Darth Vader must deal with some unpleasant realities - and memories - of his own. Though he is a Dark Lord of the Sith, even he must bow before the power of the Emperor. Read more
Review
Like many fans of the Star Wars movies, the period between Episode III and IV is kind of unknown. The Jedi Order is no more and the few remaining are hunted down. The Empire grows in power through fear and terror. To actually see this play out is awesome. Following some new characters in the time immediately after the fall of the Republic is really cool. You can feel the betrayal the surviving Jedi experience. To see average citizens trying to make a life in this "Dark Time" is a real treat. Some of the reviews seem upset because of the darker storyline. Yes, unarmed people are executed. There is slavery. Parents are separated from children, people die, children die. This is the Dark Times. It is very naive to believe that the Empire is a "kind and gentle" government. If it was, there wouldn't have been a Rebel Alliance. This book paints a picture and that picture is to show the cruel treatment the Galaxy's citizens live through during the rule of the Galactic Empire.I love this series and recommend it to fans!
