Review

OK, non-5-star folks, consider this: Shawn Coyne gives us the keys to the castle in "The Story Grid" and now he shows us how a great writer builds a castle. No matter what we think of the way he's done this in this particular instance, ya gotta be thinking like I am right now that this is gold—pure gold. The thing with The Story Grid is that you get to see inside the head of a great editor. But that's hard to do. I'm just finishing my third time through TSG and now it's really clicking. What I need more of are examples of how Shawn thinks through an SG mindset. And, voila! Here we have it. It's clear to me that we're going to get a ton of these—a classic in a genre annotated by a master editor. Nothing could be a better accompaniment to the brilliance in TSG.
