Desciption

AleksAfter my divorce, I’m ready to have fun, date around, and not get into anything serious. Then I meet Gabe Crosby, superhero firefighter and a disgrace to the Crosby name. He doesn’t even like hockey!Yet, there’s a draw to him I can’t deny—something I haven’t felt since my teens. But that’s the problem. I have no idea what dating is like, let alone how to do it with another man. He makes me flakey and nervous, and I’ve never been that guy.Gabe turns me inside out and upside down in the best possible ways. I only recently became single, but if I continue to chase after him, I might not stay that way for long.GabeWhen I meet Aleksander Emerson during an emergency call-out, there are three things that catch my attention: his sexy tattoos, his kind eyes, and his drunken offer to have my babies. He’s new to Seattle and recently divorced, so I take him under my wing–and under my sheets. I’m showing him what the world of hookups is like, only those hookups turn into sleepovers and dates and public displays of jealousy.Aleks is in his casual era, and I’m working my way toward settling down and starting a family. What the two of us have is fun, but not a good idea permanently.Too bad Aleks has already set my life on fire. Read more

Review

I’ve been wanting to read this book for a while, but I have been putting it off because I haven’t read any of the other books in the series, and I was worried I would be confused if I just jumped into this one first. I finally reached my breaking point after seeing one too many cutesy tik toks about this book. I was like you know what, I’m okay with being a little confused it’s fine. And honestly, it was. I wasn’t confused at all. I think it helped that I’ve read the CU Hockey series, so I had a little background knowledge anyway. But, I would argue that even if you haven’t read those, you’d still be fine. Moral of the story is, I wasn’t confused. Can be read as a standalone. Okay, let’s continue.Let’s start by saying the way this book started??? Amazing. It was so cute. So basically this group of queer NHL players (the queer collective as they call them) were having a party and they were so drunk. Apparently a small fire happened and the fire department was called out. In comes Gabe (one of our main characters) and his work bestie Sanden. Gabe and Sanden were hot enough that the drunk hockey men were convinced they were strippers. Hilarious. Anyway, as Gabe and Sanden are trying to figure out what’s going on from a group of drunk men, Aleks (other main character) loudly and drunkenly yells at Gabe that he is gorgeous and that he would love to have his babies. I was squealing.I really loved Aleks and Gabe. Heavy on Gabe. He was my favorite. (Also Gabe had pretty dimples, so who wouldn’t love him?) Aleks is fresh out of a 10 year marriage with his wife, and he wants to see what it’s like being with a man. He just announced that he was pansexual. I don’t know if he’s always known that he was, or he recently discovered that he was, but either way he’s never been with a man. Him and Gabe decide that Gabe will help Aleks with all his firsts with a man. Aleks felt comfortable with Gabe, so he trusted being with him like that. Plus it was only going to be no-strings attached fun, so there wasn’t any risk of feelings or anything. HAHA I LOVE when they think that.Gabe was so patient and so sweet with Aleks. I loved how him and Aleks got competitive with each other by trying to one-up the other on who could plan cuter dates that led to fun sexy times (super duper sexy times) I also loved watching them get to know each other and get closer.I had a little bit of a background on Gabe from reading The Husband Hoax by Saxon James. He was one of the roommates that lived in the share house. In that book, before Gabe became a firefighter, he was a struggling artist. I believed he liked to draw sketches. Anyway, I was surprised that didn’t come up in this book. Gabe’s artwork was never mentioned. Not really necessary, but I figured it would come up considering it was once his dream. In conclusion, I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been in a pretty slumpy mood with my reading, and this helped to pull me out. Please read thanks :)Fun quotes:“If I wanna be cheap and nasty, let me be cheap and nasty.”“I’m sure I want to have your babies is not something you’re supposed to yell at hot people.”“Don’t you dare! Touch my boyfriend and see what happens!”“I’m sitting here, right now, with you … and I already miss you.”“His soft laugh brushes my lips. “How didn’t you run that night?” “I did.” Our eyes clash. “Right to you.””
