Review
I was recommended this book by a friend and I'm glad I gave it a shot. Without giving too much away, let's just say that the killer was NOT who I expected (which is a major plus for me, since I usually can figure out the culprit in these kinds of stories).Meet Regina - the intelligent, witty, and compassionate pastor at the center of this tale. I don't know why cozy mysteries always seem to feature priests and pastors, but Regina is a refreshing change from the typical rumpled detective with a world-weary expression and personal demons. The fact that she lives in a tiny mobile home next to her church only adds to her charm. And the humor in this book is top-notch - just wait until you see how Regina dubs the men she likes, or the dynamic between her and her cat.But it’s not only humor that counts here. There's still plenty of danger, uncooperative FBI agents, guns, and even a fierce dog to keep things exciting. And let's not forget about the mysterious Society of Ageless Wisdom (you'll have to read the book to find out more). The cons? Maybe just one small note. As someone who lives in a mostly catholic country where priests are sworn to celibacy, I found it a bit weird to see a pastor turning her head whenever an attractive man was around (not that it wasn’t fun). However, I recognize that this might just be my own bias and it didn't really affect my overall enjoyment of the story, and definitely wouldn’t justify lowering the overall rating. All in all, I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a fun and entertaining read. Regina is a fantastic main character and the twists and turns in the plot kept me engaged until the very end.
